This Snowy Egret heads back to shore after fishing in the shallow Gulf Coast waters. There’s some speculation those bright yellow feet may actually help the Snowy Egret catch fish off guard.
These birds were once prized for their beautiful plumage and the fashion industry hunted them to the to the brink of extinction in the late 19th century. They’ve made a wonderful comeback and are fairly common now.
Pine Warblers can be hard to spot as they like to stay high up in the trees. This one was making its way through the lower branches when I saw it in Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary near Naples, Florida early this year.
On a day with my family in the park on a warm spring day, I found the vivid brightness of these yellow flowers helping me shake off the winter blues. They were buzzing with bees and life. While taking some quick shots, this little one took flight from the flower just as I snapped the shot. I love the contrast of the still flower in focus and the action of the bee flying away with his pollen.
