House Finch

House or Purple Finch?

This photograph of a House Finch (haemorhous mexicanus) was taken in my yard in St. Albert, Alberta. This is farther north than this species has typically been observed until fairly recently, but it may be mistaken for a Purple Finch which looks very similar.
