A Black-crowned Night Heron, standing perfectly motionless, reflected against the still waters of Cottonwood Creek in the dim light of astronomical twilight.
Photographed at Cherry Creek State Park in Colorado, with a Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF 600mm f/4 L IS II, on a Gitzo GT3532LS + Jobu Pro2 Gimbal. Captured aproximately 30 minutes after the sun had set, silently waiting in the Cottonwood Creek wetland, under a sky brewing with a newly forming thunderstorm. The scene looked nearly entirely dark to my eyes. The perfectly still bird allowed a very slow shutter speed at high ISO to make this shot possible.
Exposure: 1/6s f/4 @ ISO 3200
